Highlights: After a long silence of several years, Dov Tzur announced that he would not run for mayor of Rishon LeZion in the upcoming elections. So far, no candidates with a chance of ousting Mayor Raz Kinstlich have announced, so in fact, it seems that the way has been paved for a second term for the incumbent mayor. "A few years ago, I was robbed of the privilege of continuing to serve as mayor and contributing to the city to the best of my ability and with the vast experience I have accumulated," he wrote.

After a long silence of several years, Dov Tzur announced that he would not run for mayor of Rishon LeZion in the upcoming elections, effectively removing himself from the political system. So far, no candidates with a chance of ousting Mayor Raz Kinstlich have announced, so in fact, once Dov Tzur is out of the race, it seems that the way has been paved for a second term for the incumbent mayor.

In June 2022, a survey by the Maagar Mochot research institute was published in Walla: 75% of Rishon LeZion residents think Mayor Raz Kinstlich should continue for another term. In a possible contest against Dov Tzur, the former mayor, Kinstlich defeats Tzur by a huge margin of 76% to 14% for Tyre.

In a message to his supporters, Dov Tzur wrote: "After much deliberation, I have decided not to run again in the upcoming municipal elections. I know that I am causing disappointment to many people with this decision. I ask for their forgiveness for this, but at the same time I ask for their understanding."

Tyre is separate from his supporters

For over 35 years I have been a public activist in Rishon LeZion: handball, football, various associations, as a member of the municipal council for 25 years, as deputy mayor and as mayor for ten years. I gave the city in my best and most beautiful years my energy, skills, knowledge and experience with endless love. And in return I received priceless appreciation, love and gratitude.

Being mayor of Sunday was a 15-year-old boy's dream come true. I have been fortunate for this fulfillment and will forever thank God and you as a public for it. I have always been and will always be proud, loyal to the city and loving it with all my soul, from my first day on earth until my last day.

I have been a partner and part of the time a leader of initiatives and actions that leave and will leave their mark on the city, present and future, and I have endless pride and gratitude for the wonderful opportunity to influence the pattern of my hometown-city landscape.

A few years ago, I was robbed of the privilege of continuing to serve as mayor and contributing to the city to the best of my ability and with the vast experience I have accumulated. "Stolen" is a harsh word, but there is no simpler way to describe the circumstances in which I was prevented from continuing to lead my beloved city.

In recent months, I have debated a lot about whether it is appropriate and appropriate for me to run for mayor in the upcoming mayoral elections.

I did not hide my dissatisfaction with the state of the city and the poor quality of its current leadership, in my opinion the way the city is walking is neither good nor my path.

I couldn't ignore the thousands of calls to me, your dear residents and residents, at the beach, supermarket, just on the street, on Facebook and on the phone urging me to run again. You showered me with an enormous amount of appreciation and love to which no public figure can remain indifferent. You moved me very much.

In the end, it's a personal decision, not just a public one. It weighs the needs of the city but also my wishes and the path I went through in the good years and the difficult years (and unfortunately there were very difficult years recently).

After much deliberation, I have decided not to run again in the upcoming municipal elections. I know that I am causing disappointment to many people with this decision. I ask their forgiveness for this, but at the same time I ask for their understanding.

I have no intention of abandoning the public public in the first and in general. The city is very dear to me. Therefore, I will act in the upcoming election campaign with all my strength and ability, and I am convinced that with joint forces with many good people, a suitable candidate will be found to stand in
