It's time for rehearsal. Round tables and chairs were arranged in the auditorium. The actors will perform there in a few hours but the atmosphere seems for the moment quite relaxed. On the stage, in the middle of the room, a young man performs a series of acrobatic contortions. In one corner, a musician is repeating guitar chords. The sound of a piano is not powerful enough to cover the conversations that are woven, from one table to another, in the Russian language.
The scene takes place in the heart of the bohemian Florentine neighborhood in Tel Aviv. It is in this annex of the famous Gesher Theatre that the actors of the Fulcro troupe have taken up residence for a series of performances of their show: The Third Cabaret. The burning bush. Tonight it will be given in Russian, Yiddish, German, Hebrew. A way to perpetuate the tradition of Gesher, a theatre founded in the early 1990s by Russian actors and now an institution...
