THEFIGARO. - The Socialist Party of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez suffered a very heavy defeat in the municipal and regional elections on Sunday, May 28 in Spain. Of the twelve autonomous regions at stake, nine were governed by the Socialist Party (PSOE), and only Asturias, Castilla-La Mancha, the Canary Islands and Navarre resisted this blue wave. Mathieu GALLARD. - The PSOE did indeed suffer a major defeat by losing many regions as well as several large cities in these local elections. After its successes in the regional and municipal elections of 2015 and 2019, the PSOE was on the defensive and could only leave feathers in this election, but the scale of the tidal wave of the right surprised us.
