The Samaria Regional Council announced today (Tuesday) that the victim of the shooting attack near Hermesh was Meir Tamari, a resident of Hermesh and father of two small children. Yossi Dagan: "The writing was on the wall. Tamari, 32, from Hermesh, has two children, aged about one year and three months. Meir married Tal, a daughter of Hermesh, where he has lived for about four years. In recent days, the two finished building their home, a house that Meir built with his own hands.
Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, said: "This is very difficult news, our hearts are broken together with the entire family and the entire nation of Israel. It's so painful to say it now, but we all understand. The writing was on the wall. This attack could have been prevented. The attack took place a few meters from a checkpoint that, had he been an operative, this attack would have been prevented. We begged them to return the checkpoint, warned us to pay in blood, and received no response.
"If the Israeli government had not succumbed to international pressure and removed the security checkpoints, including this one, Meir would be here with us today, and tonight he would laugh and play again with his small children and his wife Tal, I now demand the return of the security checkpoints. If soldiers had arrested the terrorist at a checkpoint that still exists but is not staffed, Meir would still be with us."
