Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's speech at the Israel Democracy Institute conference was interrupted by demonstrators on Tuesday. One of the demonstrators shouted at him, "You're not the finance minister, you're the looting minister, you robbed the coffers"; Smotrich replied, "The protest has been heard, thank you," and then commented: "Why are you shouting? The words of the wise at ease are heard."
The finance minister attacked those protesting against him during the speech. "Most of the people are willing to talk and want to reach agreements," he said, "a small and extreme handful wants to harm everything, the economy, security, cohesion. A small, anarchist handful that is causing tremendous damage to Israeli society."
