In the midst of the wave of violence and insecurity that plagues Rosario and that on Monday had a new chapter with simultaneous shootings in a police station and a prison complex, the provincial Security Minister, Claudio Brilloni, confirmed the replacement of the police leadership of the city of Santa Fe.

Although there were no fatalities or injuries in either of the two attacks, this double institutional attack accelerated the change of names in the leadership of Regional Unit II of Rosario (UR II). Specifically, Adrián Galigani and Iván González were dismissed as chief and deputy chief, respectively.

According to local media, the new head will be Daniel Acosta, who comes from being in charge of the Regional Unit VIII General López, with seat in Melincué. In addition, he already held the position of Chief of the Security Forces for 23 days in 2021, when he was relieved in the middle of a police intern.

He is the eleventh police chief of the UR II since December 2019, when Omar Perotti took over as governor of the province.

Daniel Acosta is the new police chief of Rosario's Regional Unit II.

Meanwhile, Mariano Gobi will fill the position that González left vacant. Both, according to the same sources, will be officially announced at 10 this Tuesday, in an act that Brilloni will lead in the property located on Avenida Francia at 5,200.

"Already on Thursday morning I spoke with Galigani, I personally communicated to him that it is necessary to make a change, a change that is institutional," Minister Brilloni reported, according to La Capital.

And he clarified: "In no way do I hold him (Galigani) responsible or blame him for the negative things that are happening to us, I do deserve the positive things that the Police have done in these months. It's time for a change of air that will benefit us all."

Adrián Galigani was dismissed as chief of police of Regional Unit II of Rosario.

Galigani had taken office on January 19, when Ruben Rimoldi was still Minister of Security. At that time he succeeded Margarita Romero, who had been in office for nine months.

Double institutional attack in Rosario: a police station and a prison complex attacked

The first of the shooting attacks occurred around 20 this Monday in section 16, located in the Tablada neighborhood, south of Rosario. In the place, neighbors to the police station located in Ayacucho at 3,300 heard detonations of firearms.

After cutting the street and closing the perimeter to carry out the corresponding expertise, police agents found at least eight pods served. However, investigators were trying to determine where the projectiles had hit. There are 16 inmates in that police station.

Almost simultaneously, another similar episode occurred in front of the Penitentiary Complex from February 27 to 7800. The women's prison and the Rosario Detainee Reception Office (Order), which was also attacked with bullets, sit there. This is the sixth time that the institution has suffered an attack of this nature.

As on previous occasions, the perpetrators of the shooting were mobilized on a motorcycle. In addition, police sources specified that the attackers fired half a dozen bullets, caliber 9 millimeters.

Threatening notes were found in both attacks. The content of the messages was not released "for security reasons."
