On Tuesday morning, the IDF began the General Staff exercise "Clench-Fist," which will last about two weeks and will simulate defense and attack scenarios from several arenas simultaneously - from Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Judea and Samaria, the Gaza Strip, Iraq, Yemen and the naval arena. In addition, the General Staff exercise will include defense and attack scenarios in cyberspace, during which the ICT Division and Military Intelligence will be required to deal with extreme attacks and the shutdown of technological systems. As part of the exercise, the Air Force will test an attack in several arenas, simultaneously in accordance with decisions made at the Kirya pit in Tel Aviv.
"Our assessment is that if war breaks out in several arenas, a wide range of missiles and rockets of different ranges will be launched at the home front of the State of Israel, with a varied scope of destruction," said a senior military source. "We will have to respond to this in the first few minutes."
The source added, "The scope of the data and the construction of a picture of the situation in all the various arenas will allow us accuracy in the use of force on the one hand, and flexibility on the part of the Air Force for the various missions in the various arenas and ranges on the other. It requires a very broad effort and planning, but the Air Force is capable of it, and this is what is expected of it, including attack capabilities against a variety of targets."

In parallel with the expansion of the target bank in Lebanon and other targets far from the country's borders, the Air Force has made it clear that the amount of munitions the Air Force has and the procurement plans for the coming years will provide it with extensive attack capabilities, while exacting a heavy price from Israel's enemies.

As part of the exercise, a Northern Command exercise will be held. In the first week, the exercise will focus on the Galilee Formation exercise, and in the second week, the Ga'ash Formation exercise, which will include infiltrations by Hezbollah's Radwan force into communities near the fence, abduction attempts, and a killing spree including heavy rocket launches at communities. It was also decided that the IDF would practice evacuating communities along the northern border in order to test the effectiveness of the method.
"Our biggest challenge will be to identify the change on the ground and prepare for it, and as soon as the incident erupts, we quickly understand what is happening and how to handle it," said a Northern Command source. "It is clear to everyone that those who will handle the infiltration incidents will be the soldiers on the border. The next challenge will be the rapid accumulation of forces of the 36th Division on the border. This is a very big challenge because the entire border area will be under a very broad attack of mortar shells, missiles and rockets."
