Moritz Riedacher is committed to the "Last Generation". The repeat glue has to pay 15,000 euros in fines – or go to jail.
Munich – Full commitment to the climate strike: Moritz Riedacher has been active in the "Last Generation" for almost one and a half years, he reports himself. Again and again he has taken part in sticking actions and has been repeatedly convicted. Over the months, the fines have piled up: a total of 18,000 euros.

The 3000-year-old has already been able to pay for 26 of them through donations. Now Riedacher is turning to the Internet community again. He needs another 15,000 euros, otherwise he will have to go to prison for several months. He would not be the first climate activist to go behind bars.
"I was aware of the consequences that I have to bear through my commitment to climate protection and I also take responsibility for them," the activist writes about his "Gofundme" campaign. Of course, he still wants to avoid a prison sentence.

Riedacher wants to continue protesting: "In the meantime, I put all my energy and time into the resistance and see no alternative in this, because the future of all of us without climate collapse is extremely important to me and I am sincerely and convincingly committed to the last generation with my commitment." Before his time with the "Last Generation", he had organized major strikes for "Fridays for Future" and had been in the Ahr Valley as a flood helper.
The "Last Generation" has also shared his appeal for donations in a video. Visibly scarred by the sun, he asks for financial help. After all, 3,004 euros have already been collected via the donation portal "Gofundme" (as of May 31).
"Thank you for sitting on the street for me too," writes a woman who donated 100 euros. "The real criminals are not sitting on the streets, but in the government and disregarding the Basic Law, the Paris Agreement and the ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court on a daily basis. In doing so, they are destroying the livelihoods of future generations. Why are there no penalties for this? Thank you for your commitment, Moritz!" commented another donor.

Twitter users criticize activist: "Who am I to pay Moritz the fine?"
On Twitter, on the other hand, negative reactions dominate. "Anyone who commits crimes should also draw the consequences," writes one user. Another declares, "I'm not going to donate. A duly staffed court has decided in a public procedure based on the rule of law. Who am I to pay Moritz the fine?"
During the crackdown on the "Last Generation", the group's donation accounts were frozen. In the meantime, however, the activists are collecting again. They have also announced a new strategy with which they hope to gain more support. Every Wednesday they want to organize protest marches in several German cities. (moe)
