The Israel Defense Forces celebrates its 75th anniversary today. After the first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion signed the order to establish the IDF on May 26, 1948, it was officially established. In honor of the celebrations, documents from the establishment of the first squadron and fighter squadron in the Air Force and the order establishing the Intelligence Corps were published for the first time.
The document establishing the Intelligence Corps, classified as "top secret," lists the tasks for which it was established, including "establishing and maintaining a mechanism that will collect and collect information about the enemy, process and extract information, and cooperate and exchange information with intelligence services that are not in the army." It added that the additional objective of the new corps would be "to transmit the information as quickly as necessary to all the commanders concerned with it, and to prevent the infiltration into the enemy of information about our forces."

A letter sent by the head of the new intelligence corps to the commander of the operations division regarding the purchase of new equipment for the new corps stated that "there is an urgent need to purchase special equipment for this service and it should not be obtained in Israel." The head of the corps then lists the necessary equipment, which includes "various listening devices."
The IDF also issued the orders establishing the first squadron, "No. 100 Squadron" and the first fighter squadron, "No. 101 Squadron." The first fighter squadron also took part in attacking the Egyptian army near the Ad Halom bridge during the War of Independence.

In a letter distributed to IDF soldiers, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy wrote that "the Israel Defense Forces was established first and foremost as a fighting army, and at the same time it was intended to serve as a unifying social framework. The basic principles of its establishment still exist today: the people's army, which has room for every man and woman from all parts of the nation, who must have equal conscription from which the military leadership grows."
Halevy added, "Every day our enemies stand ready to attack us. The IDF's superiority in the near and distant arenas is maintained thanks to its high learning ability, its constant change, and its ability to adapt to changing challenges." He concluded the letter with a promise: "We will continue to fulfill the promise to devote all our strength to the defense of the homeland and the freedom of Israel and to preserving the security of the state and its citizens."
