Foreign Minister Eli Cohen claimed during his visit to Budapest on Wednesday that Hungary would announce within a few weeks the transfer of its embassy to Jerusalem.
During a visit to a local synagogue, Cohen told those present that "Hungary will be the first country in the European Union to announce in a few weeks the move of its embassy to Jerusalem." In fact, this is the first official reference to the issue after Hungary denied the possibility several times in recent months.

Cohen took off earlier this week for a visit to four EU countries, and yesterday participated in the Slavkov Forum foreign ministers' summit (Slovakia, Austria and the Czech Republic) in Brestislava in order to strengthen the pro-Israel alliance in favor of fighting Iranian terrorism and its nuclear program.
Minister Cohen said yesterday, "We are at the point of no return in the struggle against the Iranian nuclear program. Europe understands now more than ever that Iran has become a global threat. I told the foreign ministers of the Slavkov Forum: Yesterday, the Gulf states, Saudi Arabia and Israel were in the Iranian crosshairs. Today it's Ukraine. Tomorrow it's you. If we don't work together today, it will be too late. I invited our friends, the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia to take an active part in the Abraham Accords, and to be partners in promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East."
Cohen opened his state visit on Monday in Zagreb, where he met with Prime Minister Plenkovic and Foreign Minister Görlic-Redman, and thanked them for their support for Israel in international forums. Foreign Minister Gordan Görlic-Redman updated Minister Cohen on Croatia's decision to change the way Croatia votes on Israel-related issues at the UN and to oppose resolutions that harm Israel. Foreign Minister Cohen praised Croatia's role in the fight against antisemitism as chairman of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), and the importance of adopting the organization's definition of antisemitism.
