Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced today (Wednesday) the winning projects of the Israel Defense Prize for 2023. Among the winning projects: a cyber defense system that guarantees the IDF security and freedom of action in the digital space, an intelligence system of the Shin Bet and Military Intelligence, a joint technological project of the Mossad and 8200, and the development of a groundbreaking operational capability.

Galant approved the recommendation of the Israel Defense Prize Committee for 13-<>, which will be awarded in the presence of the President of the State, the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff and the Director General of the Ministry of Defense on June <> at the President's Residence in Jerusalem. After receiving the recommendations, the Minister of Defense called the winners and congratulated them on receiving the prize.

The committee appointed by Minister Galant this year included the chairman, Maj. Gen. (res.) Udi Adam, Maj. Gen. (res.) Roni Noma, Prof. Ofer Furstenberg of the Weizmann Institute, and the committee's secretary, Mr. Asher Wagner. On the 75th anniversary of Israel's independence, the committee recommended awarding the Israel Defense Prize to four outstanding projects that made a significant contribution to the security of the state and to maintaining its technological and operational power on the battlefield.

The winning projects:

1. A classified system under development by the Spectrum and Cyber Defense Division, whose development and operational operation included all branches of the IDF, including the ICT Division, the Air and Space Arm, the Intelligence Directorate and the Navy Arm. This is a unique cyber defense system that makes groundbreaking use of the most advanced technologies in the world in order to ensure the IDF security and freedom of action in the digital space in the face of advanced and evolving cyber threats.

2. A joint venture between the Israel Security Agency and Unit 8200 of the IDF's Intelligence Directorate, aimed at developing and implementing a unique technological system that enables intelligence and security superiority in many sectors. The system is groundbreaking and makes a significant contribution to the intelligence community's actions in the face of security challenges.

3. A project created from cooperation between the Mossad and Unit 8200 of the IDF's Intelligence Directorate, and with a significant and unique strategic contribution to national security, which embodies technological innovation and groundbreaking and exceptional operational daring.

4. A joint venture between the Intelligence Directorate, the Air and Space Arm, the Navy Arm, IAI and Rafael – which constitutes an exceptional technological solution in which groundbreaking operational capability has been achieved that directly contributes to maintaining the IDF's qualitative advantage and the security of the State of Israel. The project combines several innovative and unique technological developments that were made possible by the vision, determination and creativity of all the partners in the project.
