THE FIGARO. - (FR) You took part in a seminar of LR deputies on Wednesday devoted to the housing crisis. What is your analysis?
Jean-Louis BORLOO. - Housing is the nest of fulfillment, and unfortunately the biggest spending budget of families. A real housing crisis can become a social bomb. We are fortunate to have a still dynamic demographic, but the construction figures are desperate. And if we continue like this, in five years we will find a situation comparable to the one we experienced in 1954, marked by the call of Abbé Pierre. Housing is a subject with multiple actors, but the machine is out of whack. The housing policy is considered costly in Bercy, local elected officials are worried, the budgetary difficulties of the State have pushed it to take in ten years nearly 10 billion on HLM and Action Logement ... When you add to all this the rise in interest rates...
