ANALYSIS - The Ministry of National Education's "indicators of added value of colleges", based on the results of the national diploma of the patent, make it possible to draw up a comparative balance sheet between public and private.


To compare the performance of colleges, indicators are becoming more and more precise. The general public now has access, in addition to the usual success rate per institution, to their average in the written tests of the brevet (mathematics, French, history-geography and science). This new information is valuable in two respects. On the one hand, these written tests, common to all France, assess the academic level of middle school students on the same basis. On the other hand, these written grades make it possible to better distinguish the colleges - numerous - whose success rate is close to 100%.
