Rarely has the Social Affairs Committee of the National Assembly been so scrutinized. On Wednesday 31 May, it must rule on the Liot bill (PPL), and in particular Article 1 which aims to repeal the legal retirement age at 64 years. The members of the commission could invoke Article 40 of the Constitution. It states that private members' business is not admissible if it increases public spending, and that it is therefore unconstitutional for MPs to propose a text that causes "the diminution of public resources" and "the creation or aggravation of a public charge".
