"Fed up general": gathering of 170 police officers in front of the Champigny police station

Some 170 to 180 police officers, according to Unité SGP Police FO, responded to the union's call to gather this Thursday noon in front of the Champigny police station (Val-de-Marne), to protest against the "managerial drifts" of the hierarchy and chronic understaffing. "The frustration is general within the staff of the police station, against a failing hierarchy, which is only there to police colleagues," says Angelo Bruno, National Secretary Delegate Île-de-France of the police union.

At the center of the anger of the police, the consultation "regular, outside any legal framework", of the images captured by the pedestrian cameras of the officers by the hierarchy of the station, "to police the colleagues", according to Angelo Bruno. "Colleagues no longer want to work under these conditions. Trust is broken," said Benoît Leriche, deputy departmental secretary of the union in Val-de-Marne.

In this police station located in the heart of the sensitive city of Bois-l'Abbé, district of republican reconquest (QRR), these methods do not pass. "This police station is a bunker, which is regularly stoned and is often targeted by fireworks mortars. Colleagues are already attacked enough from the outside, so as not to have to suffer these attacks from the inside," insists Benoît Leriche.

The police also denounce the glaring lack of manpower, which leads to infernal rates and an increase in psychosocial risks. "In my department, our working conditions have been deteriorating for three to four years now," laments a judicial police officer stationed at the Champigny police station. "There are not enough of us to handle the influx of court proceedings. We are missing about fifteen procedural staff. We went to preventive medicine to say that our working conditions were not good. But nothing has changed. Grégory Joron, the union's general secretary, also went to the police station to give his "support" to the police.
