Josef Niedermaier is sounding the alarm again - and does not give sports clubs false hopes. The lack of accommodation for refugees worries the district administrator.
Wolfratshausen – Around 100 asylum seekers have been arriving in the district every month since November 2022. Despite the construction of new accommodation and the occupancy of gymnasiums, District Administrator Josef Niedermaier (Free Voters) believes that the need for accommodation cannot be met in the long term.
"It's five to twelve": District Administrator fears that there are too few refugee accommodations available
As part of the monthly meeting of the Wolfratshausen Citizens' Association in the Flößerei inn, he recently sounded the alarm again. "It's five to twelve: we are threatened with a split in society due to the difficult integration," Niedermaier fears. Around 3000 refugees currently live in the district. According to the Königsteiner key, which is two-thirds based on tax capacity and one-third on population, these are too few. "We only meet the quota to 82.8 percent," Niedermaier calculated.
There is a lack of accommodation for refugees - district administrator expects many new arrivals
He is also worried about the approximately 900 false occupants who cannot find an affordable place to stay on the tight housing market. The end of the line is far from being reached. Despite the financial aid of one billion euros recently promised by the German government for the federal states, the situation will continue to deteriorate, according to Niedermaier's forecast. "As long as the EU does not agree on uniform standards, we will not get the problem under control," fears the district administrator. He can understand every refugee who is drawn to Germany. "By the end of the year, we expect another 700 to 800 new arrivals in the district," Niedermaier said.
New gyms occupied by refugees? District administrator gives clubs little hope
The occupancy of new district-owned gyms is unavoidable. Stefan Meyer, chairman of 1st FC Weidach, and Walter Halamek, head of the gymnastics department of TSV Wolfratshausen, regret this. Both are involved in the working group for Wolfratshausen sports clubs. "More and more people are leaving the clubs," Halamek noted. The BCF Wolfratshausen, whose chairman Dr. Manfred Fleischer, as reported, recently sent an incendiary letter to the district administrator and mayor Klaus Heilinglechner because of the refugee occupancy of the Farchet multi-purpose hall, is even threatened with ruin. "It must be our goal to get the gyms in the district empty by the end of the year," Niedermaier practiced in perseverance slogans. Wolfratshausen city councillor Dr. Ulrike Krischke denounced a "two-class refugee policy".

While immigrants from Ukraine's war zones receive citizen's money, asylum seekers from other countries are left empty-handed. "We simply lack the necessary social infrastructure such as housing, kindergartens and psychological support," says Krischke. Niedermaier agreed with her, because these follow-up costs must be borne by the districts and municipalities. "We will have to share our prosperity," Niedermaier concluded.
