Update from Saturday, May 27, 2023, 12 noon: The body of Arno Dübel has still not been found. Now Lutz Rehkopf, the spokesman for Hamburg's cemeteries, has spoken out. In an interview with bunte.de, he admits: "I have not experienced a case like this in 25 years".
According to him, it doesn't matter where a person dies – the body must always come to the deceased acceptance of the cemeteries. That's exactly what didn't happen with Arno Dübel. And even in the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the remains had not been registered. According to the spokesman, the only conceivable possibility is that a relative had the dead man brought to another state.

Even the central administration of Hamburg's cemeteries is puzzling over the whereabouts of Arno Dübel. She confirmed to Bild that the deceased was not cremated in either of the two crematoria in Hamburg. In addition, the administration had expected that he was transported to the deceased reception in Hamburg-Öjendorf. But neither in the deceased hall in Öjendorf nor at the other location in Ohlsdorf had the body of Arno Dübel been recorded.

From the circle of acquaintances of Dübel it was said that Arno Dübel was buried on April 15 in the cemetery in Rahlstedt. According to the cemetery administration, however, there were no burials or funeral services on the day in question. And the body is also said not to have appeared at the Tonndorf cemetery. According to Bild, there will also be no anonymous burials in these cemeteries.
What could have happened to the body of Arno Dübel? On the one hand, it is possible that relatives have had the body picked up by a funeral home. So he could have found his final resting place in the Hamburg area. It could also be that the body is kept in the university hospital.
