From this Thursday, the monthly increase set from the price index is applied.

June starts with increases in buses and trains. As ordered by the national government at the beginning of the year, the cost of tickets is updated every month based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) measured by the Indec, which last April marked an increase of 8.6% in the region comprised by the City and Greater Buenos Aires.

Therefore, the minimum bus ticket already costs $ 46.35. While the trains, depending on the line, leave between $ 22.51 and $ 29.12. In addition, the negative balance of the SUBE card increases: $ 185.40. This is the fourth increase so far this year.

Buses, section by section

The minimum bus ticket that already costs $ 46.35 is the one that includes sections of between 0 and 3 kilometers. While for distances of 3 to 6 kilometers, the most used route, will have a value of $ 51.63; and from 6 to 12 kilometers, from $ 55.61.

Meanwhile, in distances ranging from 12 to 27 kilometers, the ticket will cost $ 59.58, and for distances greater than 27 kilometers, $ 63.55.

Trains

Trains in the metropolitan area will also suffer increases in travel. The Mitre, Sarmiento, San Martín and Tren de la Costa lines will cost a minimum of $ 29.12 on the shortest routes. While on the Roca, Belgrano Sur, Urquiza, and Belgrano Norte lines each trip will cost $ 22.50.

In all cases, the social tariff is maintained. And in addition, the Sube Network is still in force, which implies that the second trip costs 50% of the value and the third is paid 25%. The discounts apply as long as the last journey starts before two hours have elapsed since the first one has begun.

The subway also increases

As has also been the case since March, the Buenos Aires subway fare is adjusted periodically. Unlike the national government, Subterráneos de Buenos Aires Sociedad del Estado (Sbase) determined increases scheduled until September.

In addition, and although buses, trains and subways depend on different governments, fares must be regulated with similar adjustments because they are transports that operate within the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires.

In the case of the subway, the rise scheduled for June will begin to take effect next Monday. It will be $ 7 more expensive than the current value, so it will go from $ 67 to $ 74. The Premetro will go to $26.

The subway still needs one more increase. In September the value of each trip will be $ 80.

As reported by Sbase, the modification of the tariff table was discussed and approved at the public hearing on February 3, a necessary requirement to apply the adjustment.

"In addition to seeking a balance between the ticket of the different means of transport, the update responds to the variation of the technical rate - which reflects the cost of operating the service and consists of the quotient between these costs and the number of passengers paid - and is necessary to guarantee the proper functioning of the subway, keeping the public transport system sustainable," they added.

As is also the case with trains and buses, the Buenos Aires Government subsidizes a part of the subway fare, which remains at 70% occupancy compared to the trips made before the pandemic.

In addition to being incorporated into the Sube Network, the subway maintains the benefit for frequent flyers. It consists of applying discounts of 20%, 30% and 40% once the 20, 30 or 40 monthly trips are exceeded, respectively.

On the other hand, there are also passes for retirees and pensioners, and for people with disabilities, for transplanted people and on the waiting list -all of them can travel for free-, the student ticket -which is also free-, and social, teacher and student subscriptions, for secondary and tertiary school students. In addition to discounts for those who have social plans.
