On May 31, 2023, TV viewers were once again spoiled for choice: "File number XY" and Europa League final. But the odds speak for themselves.
Munich – While Rudi Cerne (64) informs the police about the latest scams of the criminals on the last day of May, Sevilla FC and AS Roma fought in Budapest to win the Europa League title. So the TV program could not have been more contrasting, but fans had a clear favorite.
Clear winner in the quota duel between "Aktenzeichen XY" and Europa League final
Since 1967, ZDF viewers have been able to help solve unsolved crime cases in "Aktenzeichen XY". And even after more than 50 years, they are still doing so diligently. Because on May 31, 2023, ZDF was the clear ratings winner. An unbelievable 4.35 million viewers tuned in to "Aktenzeichen XY" on Wednesday, as DWDL reports.
For Rudi Cerne, this results in a solid market share of 18.7 percent among the total audience aged three and over. There were significantly fewer spectators for the Europa League final. RTL has to settle for an initial market share of 9.5 percent – despite a thrilling penalty thriller in extra time.
Which number of spectators set the record in Germany?
On 13 July 2014, ARD made television history: the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina (1-0 a.e.t.) was watched by an estimated 34.65 million people on their own television sets. Crazy: People who watched the game at public viewing or in bars, for example, were not included in this count. The actual number is therefore likely to be considerably higher.
Sevilla FC celebrates – and 3.2 million football fans cheer along
The title race between Sevilla FC and AS Roma was watched by 2.24 million football fans at the beginning. In the course of the game – which, by the way, ended 5-2 on penalties – the number of viewers increased to 3.20 million. In the end, the Spaniards' goal celebrations gave RTL a market share of 30.5 percent.
