"Everything was shaking, everything was rocking. It was eleven hours of pure hell," reports Sharon Tutrone in an interview with ntv. "I really thought we were capsizing. It was terrifying." The "Carnvial Sunshine" had apparently set sail despite uncertain weather conditions and was then caught by a storm. The ship rocked for hours and was therefore unable to dock at its destination port for a long time.

"I'm surprised I'm still alive," a Bill Hassler, also a passenger, told CNN. Other fellow travelers are said to have been "white as ghosts".

"The wind was howling. All I could see was a dense wall of spray water and rain. The balcony boundary next to our cabin door broke out of its anchorage and hit terribly forwards and backwards," says Hassler, describing the scene.

"The ceiling and walls creaked. The ship made terrible noises and sometimes vibrated violently, as if the engine were fighting against the surging waves," he explains. The news service "Crew Center" published a video of the flooded corridors.
