Joe Biden crashed on stage during a public appearance on Thursday. He had apparently stumbled upon a sandbag.
Colorado - A sandbag caused a moment of shock during US President Joe Biden's appearance at the U.S. Air Force graduation ceremony on Thursday (June 1). The 80-year-old stumbled over the sack at the Air Force Academy ceremony in El Paso County, Colorado, as he was about to leave the stage, dpa reports. A bodyguard and an officer rushed to his aid and helped him back to his feet. Biden himself pointed accusingly at the sandbag.
Subsequently, Biden returned to his seat. He did not appear to have sustained any injuries: the White House declared that the president was "fine". The politician of the Democratic Party had previously given a speech at the graduation ceremony and presented diplomas.

Biden is the oldest president in U.S. history and is seeking re-election in 2024. This raises questions about the health of the 80-year-old, who would be 86 years old at the end of a possible second term. In February, Biden's personal physician had certified that he was in good health and had full fitness for office.
It is not the first time that Biden has made a name for himself with a fall. In the past year, there have been several small accidents. Shortly after his election in November 2020, he broke his foot while playing with his dog Major. Then, in June 2022, he crashed his bike near his beach house in Delaware. The president had stopped to talk to passers-by and lost his balance as he tried to pull his foot out of the pedal loop.
