The motorcyclist killed during a police chase after car thieves in Holon was Herzl Bustanai, 72. His son said that his father was a well-known figure in the city from the field of football, where he worked at the new Maccabi Otzma Holon.

According to the police, the incident took place during an activity initiated by the Holon station in front of a squad of suspects in car thefts following a report of a vehicle stolen from Israel Galili Street in the city. Holon police blocked the road, and the suspect in the stolen vehicle rammed the patrol cars blocking it. The officers fired at the suspect, who continued driving to Histadrut Street, hit the motorcycle he was riding, hit another vehicle and fled. Another vehicle also allegedly used by the squad operatives was stopped by the police. The suspects, a 38-year-old resident of Qalansawe and a 33-year-old resident of um al-Fahm, were arrested and brought to the station for interrogation.
