For the first time, a technology giant and the British royal family are working together. YouTube and Prince Williams Earthshot Prize have a deal. Prince Harry can't keep up.
London – It's the first time a member of the royal family has agreed to collaborate with a U.S. tech giant. But Prince William (40) and his staff at Kensington Palace have now gone online with YouTube. The firstborn of King Charles (74) owes this to his good name, but the fact that you can quickly put it at risk can be seen in his brother Prince Harry (38).
Prince Williams' Earthshot Prize is gaining in presence and importance in the United States
The news may sound dry, but it has it all: The Prince Williams Prize, endowed with 95 million US dollars (over 88 million euros), is entering into a partnership with the Google company YouTube. The next two years will be filled with co-branding campaigns, events and collaborations between YouTubers, reports news.com.au. Actually, Prince Harry should take care of the big deals, because while Prince William continues to fulfill his royal duties, Harry has to earn his bread in the private sector.
A look back shows that the brothers' starting conditions were the same before they drifted apart. In the 1980s, Henry and William shared similar charitable interests and duties, for example, William became patron of the conservation organization Tusk and Harry worked for African Parks. In 2009, they co-founded the Royal Foundation, an umbrella organisation for various philanthropic interests whose greatest concern was the environment.
The Earthshot Prize
The Earthshot Prize was launched in 2020 by Prince William and David Attenborough (97). It is awarded each year to five winners for their contributions to environmental protection. It was first awarded in 2021 and is scheduled to run annually until 2030. Each winner will receive a £1 million grant to continue their environmental work.
As a result, the prize has gained a significant presence in the USA. Former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (42) and former UN climate chief Christiana Figueres (66), who played a leading role in the Paris Agreement, are behind Prince William. Like Earthshot winner Sebastian Groh (34) of SolShare, according to the Telegraph, it sums it up: "All of a sudden, Bill Gates walks past your product and says, 'That's interesting.'" He was surprised by the attraction of the royals, especially in the United States.
Instead of an awards night, the award ceremony is to be extended to a week of events in Singapore in 2023.

Harry founded the Archewell Foundation in the US with Meghan, while Prince William was perceived more as an appendage of Princess Kate (40) and as the father of three lovely children. The fact that he did not sit back and relax is evident from the founding financiers of his Earthshot Prize, which include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (59), former New York presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg (81), the family foundation of Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen (65) and that of Walmart multi-billionaire Rob Walton (78), to name the biggest supporters of the climate prize.
