Suspected murder in um al-Fahm: 30-year-old man shot dead on main street - Walla! news

Mohammed Taramiz, a man in his 30s from um al-Fahm, was shot dead on Thursday on one of the city's main streets. The medical officials who arrived at the scene gave him initial medical treatment and evacuated him to HaEmek Hospital in Afula, in critical condition and performing CPR. Medical teams at the hospital later pronounced him dead.

Police said the background to the incident was under investigation, and at the same time, the forces called to the scene began collecting evidence and findings. This was part of the investigation opened to examine the circumstances of the incident. Few details are known about the murder, but the city said of Trameys that he was a law-abiding, normative and religious man.

This was the second murder in the city in about 50 hours, which took place just as the funeral of the previous murdered man from um al-Fahm, Mohammed Aref Zhao, was taking place in the city. According to the Abraham Initiatives, 87 Arabs lost their lives in 2023 in circumstances related to violence and crime. By comparison, in the same period last year, according to the association, there were 33 victims.

The um al-Fahm municipality said in response: Less than 48 hours have passed since the killing of the late Muhammad Aref Zhao. A second murder occurred in um al-Fahm, where the late Muhammad Ashraf Tremiz Jabarin was murdered Thursday evening in a shooting incident. The um al-Fahm municipality mourns its dead youths in various criminal incidents and begs Allah to move the conscience that lives within us and wake us up from our negligence, and may Allah have mercy on us, and transfer this situation of ours to a better one. And better, so we can live safely and securely."

On Tuesday, a 50-year-old man was shot dead in um al-Fahm. A young woman traveling with him, his son's girlfriend, sustained moderate injuries and was evacuated to HaEmek Hospital in Afula. The murder was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the shooting of a 5-year-old boy, the son of a known offender, who was wounded on Friday while at an event with his bodyguard. The son of the man killed on Tuesday is wanted on suspicion of shooting at the 5-year-old boy.

MDA paramedic Munib Fa'our said that when he arrived at the scene, he saw the man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds. "We carried out medical examinations, the man had no signs of life and there was nothing left but to pronounce him dead," he recalled, "We provided medical treatment to the moderately injured woman and urgently evacuated her to the hospital."
