There is now a surplus of women at the Bruck Citizens' Association (BBV): Elisabeth Lang is replacing the new Lord Mayor Christian Götz on the committee.
Fürstenfeldbruck – On Tuesday, the new city councillor was sworn in. She wants to stand up for the issues of women, culture and environmental protection.
Elisabeth Lang would not have expected that she would be elected three years after the city council elections. It had been too long since the election. And on the list of replacements, Dieter Pleil and Klaus Quinten were two candidates ahead of her. But both had signaled early on that they did not want to return to city politics. The next on the list was Lang. "I didn't even have it on my radar anymore," says the 57-year-old. "After the run-off election, an acquaintance congratulated me on my city council mandate via WhatsApp." She was surprised.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB Newsletter.)
Elisabeth Lang therefore thought about it for a long time. "I am very busy professionally and have always had respect for the city council mandate, because it involves a lot of work." And with responsibility, because decisions have to be made. "On the other hand, you can lend a hand and help shape it." And don't always just rant about those who are at the helm. So she accepts the challenge.
With experience
And she can bring a lot of experience to the table. Lang studied German language and literature and history to become a grammar school teacher, but now works in adult education. She gives guided tours of the city and churches, works at the Jexhof, is an author, lecturer and teaches German as a second language at the adult education centre and gives integration courses. For this reason, cultural issues as well as social justice and women's issues are important to the spokesperson for the Working Group on Remembrance – formerly the Working Group on Memorials. It is not for nothing that she also publishes a women's calendar every year. The fact that the BBV now consists of six women and five men "fits well". In addition to the Culture and Works Committee, the Vice-Chairwoman of the Bund Naturschutz will also sit on the Committee for the Environment, Transport and Civil Engineering.
Despite all due respect for the tasks, Elisabeth Lang is looking forward to political work. "Three years is a good time to get a taste of it," she says. And so she can show her three children (24, 21 and 17 years) that you can lend a hand. Her youngest son has already given her the first assignment: "He wants more public football pitches."
