U.S. President Joe Biden, 80, stumbled Thursday evening during a ceremony at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He recovered quickly and rose to his feet with the help of three of those present.
Footage of the incident shows him falling after shaking his hand with one of the honorees. Immediately afterward, several people helped him stand, and he pointed to the floor, presumably the thing that caused him to stumble. According to a White House spokesperson, he apparently tripped over a sandbag on stage.
Last month, President Biden, who recently announced his intention to run in the next election, said, "I understand that age is a relevant issue. This is what everyone has in their brains. They say I'm old, I say I'm smart."
