The weather in Germany is better than in the Mediterranean. Until mid-June, a lot of sun and hardly any precipitation is to be expected. The outlook for the coming days.
Munich/Wiesbaden – Summer has arrived all over Germany. The sunny Whitsun weekend was already "the longest period of good weather of the year so far," as one weather expert summed it up. The coming days also promise a lot of sunshine, few clouds and hardly any precipitation. This means that there is currently better holiday weather in Germany than on the Mediterranean. Because strong thunderstorms and even thunderstorms rage there.
Summer weather in Germany: "Dry weather phase" until at least mid-June
The high-pressure area "Wiola" stretches from the British Isles to Eastern Europe and ensures stable summer weather. It can stay that way until at least mid-June, low-lying foothills can hardly get through this high, as meteorologist Dominik Jung, managing director of the weather service Q.met, explains to the weather portal wetter.net. May bids farewell on Wednesday (31 May) with plenty of sunshine and highs of up to 28 degrees. Directly in the Alps or in the southern Black Forest, there may be short showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon, otherwise it will remain dry everywhere.

On Thursday and Friday, the sunny weather will not change. With plenty of sunshine and highs of 18 to 27 degrees, the new month is off to a good start. There seems to be no end to the good weather phase since the Pentecost weekend. "There hasn't been such a long sunny and dry weather phase in Germany for a long time, not at all this year," said the weather expert. But the sun should not be underestimated. "The risk of sunburn is very high. In addition, we have a high risk of forest fires," warned Jung.
Weather: Summer prospects until mid-June – holidays on the Mediterranean fall through the cracks
Even though April and the first weeks of May were marked by rain, especially in the south, the drought is becoming a problem in the east and north. But it is also becoming increasingly dry in the west and south. Until June 9, there will be hardly any rain in Germany. The forecast for the next few days:
Weekday | Extremes |
---|---|
Saturday | 18 to 28 degrees |
Sunday | 19 to 27 degrees |
Monday | 20 to 27 degrees |
Tuesday | 21 to 28 degrees |
Wednesday | 22 to 27 degrees |
While the best holiday weather prevails in Germany, the holiday on the Mediterranean falls into the water. "At the moment, holidays in the Mediterranean are only worthwhile to a limited extent, so you might as well stay at home," says Jung. From Spain to the Balearic Islands to Italy and Greece, sometimes strong thunderstorms and storms are raging. For the next 10 to 14 days, precipitation could remain with heavy rain and hail. The Whitsun holidays and the summer holidays can therefore be spent in Germany with a clear conscience. Only the bathing lakes could still be a bit fresh due to the wet spring. (vk)
