FC Bayern celebrated their eleventh German championship in a row this weekend, despite going into the matchday in second place. How a die-hard Bayern fan experienced the heart-stopping final.
Schliersee – Harry Huber is chairman of the FC Bayern fan club Alpenrose Schliersee. The fan club has been around for 30 years. In an interview, the chairman tells us how he experienced the surprise title.
Mr. Huber, FC Bayern has had an eventful weekend. Did Bavaria have more luck than brains?
Harry Huber: I was still in the stadium against Leipzig and had already written off the championship afterwards. Normally, BVB dismantles Mainz, but you can see that the players can't handle the pressure. On the other hand, I was almost happy for second place after Leipzig, then it would have been really cleaned up. The win was luck for Bayern, bad luck for BVB.
"I've never experienced a circus like this before": How an FC Bayern fan experienced the championship
It was cleaned up despite the championship.
Harry Huber: I've never experienced a circus like this before, which lives up to the name FC Hollywood. The departure of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidic was the right one, we all agree on that. There was a lot of worm in it, but the way was wrong. We may find out more about the background. All this came from Hoeneß and Rummenigge, the Hainer does not decide on such a thing alone. I wasn't a friend of Nagelsmann, but it was wrong to dismiss him during the game. So why give him a five-year contract? Bayern threw Tuchel in and expected him to win everything.

What do you expect for next season?
Harry Huber: Bayern will find the right successor for Salihamidic. The team also needs to be tidied up. The players no longer think about football, but only about the good life. In terms of fitness, it has been lacking this season, the pressing has always collapsed in the second half. We need a midfielder, you can't overestimate Kimmich – he's not that good. And we need a centre-forward, Lewandowski shouldn't have been let go, he'll certainly play at the top level for another two years.
