Warngau – More space for more animal welfare: A farm in Osterwarngau, the "Bichäbauer", is keeping up with the times and preparing to relocate its dairy farm. In the open field, west of the village and south of Holzkirchner Straße, a large courtyard is to be built. The Warngau municipal council has now unanimously signalled its goodwill to the project.

"The next generation is getting involved, the farm is moving out," explained Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG) at the meeting. "Respect that dairy farming continues to be practiced here," said Reinhard Bücher (Greens); Anton Bader (FWG) also found it "courageous" not to stop the business, but to completely reorganize it. In view of the soils and climatic conditions, a farmer in the community does not have too many options, emphasized Engelfried Beilhack (CSU): "Apart from dairy farming, little is possible with us."

The plans envisage a rather spacious courtyard in a U-shape. "It's going to be quite big," Thurnhuber noted, "but society wants more animal welfare – and space is needed for that." The dairy barn, which is built according to ecological guidelines, is over 62 meters long and 25.50 meters wide; the slurry pit has a diameter of 21 meters and is four meters deep. The much smaller recovery hall (35 by twelve meters) will have a towed canopy about four meters long on its east side.

The third building consists of a 48-metre-long machine hall, which houses, among other things, a workshop, heating and a double garage, and in the eastern part of a residential building (16.5 by 12.5 metres); The residential wing has three levels: On the upper floor, a senior apartment is planned (106 square meters). the attic accommodates two apartments (73 square meters each). For the two holiday apartments, the municipality wants to have at least two additional parking spaces.

In terms of design, the mayor recognises a "rural architectural style". Vertical wooden cladding is planned for all buildings, and the residential wing will be plastered on the ground floor. The municipality suggested that the farmstead should be appropriately greened in consultation with the Lower Nature Conservation Authority and that this should be documented with a green space plan.

In terms of building law, the municipality does not have to take any action, as the project is located in the outer area, but may assume that it will be approved by the district office due to agricultural privileges. "What will become of the old farmstead in the village?", Anton Bader wanted to know. If, for example, apartments are to be built here, the municipality is called upon, the mayor explained: "As soon as something is planned, the town hall is the first point of contact."
