Two friends are drinking, then one runs over the other. In court, the defendant now says he thought the whole thing was a wildlife accident.
Traunstein – A complicated case is currently being heard before the Traunstein Regional Court. A 26-year-old is charged with attempted murder with a hit-and-run – in July of last year, he got drunk behind the wheel of his car and ran over a walker. On Thursday, June 1, he defended himself.
Friends drink together at a folk festival – then one drives the other over
Here's what happened in July 2022 in the district of Mühldorf am Inn: Two friends had visited a folk festival in Ampfing, drank plenty there. Subsequently, one of the two, a 26-year-old farmer, got into his car. With about 1.5 per thousand, he then hit his friend, who wanted to walk home, on the way home.
The man was thrown against the windshield and remained seriously injured on the side of the road. The 26-year-old is said to have continued driving and, according to the indictment, did not provide any help to cover up his drink-driving.

Accident in Bavaria – drunk driver is said to have mistaken pedestrians for game
In front of the court in Traunstein, the 26-year-old farmer now had to answer for the accident. Through his defender, however, he let it be known that he had thought after the accident that he had hit a deer.
For the accident victim, rescue came a quarter of an hour later. According to the investigation, a motorist found the seriously injured man on the side of the road and called for help. Thus, the man's life could be saved. The verdict in the trial is scheduled for June 29. (FHZ)
