Fires broke out Friday in several locations across the country following extreme heat, which in some places reached more than 40 degrees Celsius.
In the north, Route 4 from Atlit Junction to Ofer Junction was blocked in both directions following a fire that broke out in Kerem Maharal in Carmel. Israeli police officers are on the scene directing traffic through roads 721 and 7011. At this time, many fire crews, as well as air support, are on the scene and are trying to control the fire, which is taking place in several locations around Kerem Maharal Junction.Nearby council institutions have been evacuated, including a daycare center, community center and psychological service.
At this stage, there is no danger to residents, and there are no special instructions for the public. The council is in contact with emergency teams in nearby communities.

In the Jerusalem area, firefighting planes were dispatched to burn a forest near the community of Tal Shahar. There are six teams at the scene, commanded by Rabbi Reshef Yoram Hadad of the Beit Shemesh Regional Station, including three firefighting aircraft. This is a large forest fire, near the railway tracks. The fire union sought to halt train traffic because it endangers trains and passengers and firefighters who are required to work near the tracks.
