Aschau im Chiemgau – It's been a good nine months since 23-year-old medical student Hanna was found dead in the municipality of Prien. At the beginning of October, the young woman from Aschau in Chiemgau died after a club visit on the way home by foreign violence, it was said shortly after the body had been recovered from the river Prien. A long and intensive search for clues and witnesses began, in the meantime a young man has been charged with murder. Now, perhaps, another important piece of evidence has emerged.

Case Hanna from Aschau: mobile phone of the dead woman found

On Friday, June 2, the police headquarters of Upper Bavaria South informed the press about a new development in the still inscrutable case. For a long time, there was an intensive search for witnesses, suspects, traces and evidence – and much was brought to light. Only the mobile phone of the deceased did not appear – until now.

According to police, on Whit Sunday, May 28, an "attentive walker" found a "heavily soiled and algae-covered mobile phone". Later, she instructed her son to take the phone to the police, which he did on Tuesday, May 30. It quickly turned out that this was "clearly the still missing mobile phone of the murder victim".

Elevated water level brought cell phone to light – Young man in custody

The officials explain the appearance of the mobile phone with the fact that it remained untraceable in the creek bed under stones around the period of rain and flooding – but has now been brought to light again by the water level rising again.

In the case, the public prosecutor's office had recently brought charges of murder of the student against a man who was between 18 and 21 years old at the time of the crime. He is said to have been a jogger near the scene of the crime. Initially, the police had sought him as a witness. He was arrested in mid-November 2022 and has been in custody ever since.
