2023-06-02T09:14:04.711Z

Highlights: The municipality of Forstern is extending the citizen survey on a possible local or district heating network. 102 citizens took part and 56 people expressed interest. On Tuesday, July 18, at 19:30 p.m., an information event is planned at the Hirschbachwirt with the interested supplier. The form will again be available online to fill out, but also in paper form to pick up at the town hall – this variant would have been used by two or three citizens recently.

Forstern – How great is the interest in local and district heating supply? That's what Forstern wanted to know and started a survey for this purpose. 102 citizens took part and 56 people expressed interest. Now the needs assessment is to be extended.

In the municipal council at the end of April, climate protection and energy officer Anton Eicher (CSU) had expressed concern that the heating plans of Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) "put a spanner in the works, as many heating sources, including biogas waste heat and wood chips from residual wood, are on his hit list. If this goes through, we can actually bury the project." Mayor Rainer Streu (AWG) had declared at the time that the survey had not really been noticed. However, the interest of a supplier is still there. Streu: "We don't give up and continue to plan."

That's what happened in the meantime. At the most recent council meeting, Streu explained that they had met again with the utility and agreed to run the data collection for another four weeks from Monday, June 5. The supplier had added other questions that were important to him. In addition, according to Streu, some citizens also wanted to participate after the survey period had expired.

The form will again be available online to fill out, but also in paper form to pick up at the town hall – this variant would have been used by two or three citizens recently. Construction fence banners in the village are intended to promote participation. On Tuesday, July 18, at 19:30 p.m., an information event is planned at the Hirschbachwirt with the interested supplier. "He will present what he has already implemented in other municipalities and also say more about the prices," Streu explained.
