Highlights: JOG is a dating app that encourages users to walk to meet people. The more you walk, the more likely you are to match with another user. After 1,000 steps, other users can like the profile. Nearly 4,000 people, mostly young people aged 20 to 25, have adopted this new application, used mainly in the Pink City and Paris. JOG's founders hope to expand their targets to people up to 35 years old and roll out the app to other cities in France.

Take as many steps as possible to make romantic encounters. This is the principle of the JOG application, launched at the end of February by five Toulouse entrepreneurs and which takes the usual dating applications on the opposite foot. The steps are here converted into points and the more you walk, the more likely you are to match with another user.

"Initially, we wanted to create an app to bring people together who play sports, and then an app for athletes to meet people, but we found that it was restrictive. So we thought of this concept of walking to meet someone, while doing good for the planet," says Baptiste Maurice, one of the founders of JOG.

Target 25,000 users

"To have dates (appointments), you have to make the effort to walk and not swipe between profiles, continues Baptiste Maurice. There is no algorithm that highlights paid profiles in the options: the one that works a lot will be more visible on the application. "

After 1,000 steps, other users can like the profile. They are already nearly 4,000 people, mostly young people aged 20 to 25, to have adopted this new application, used mainly in the Pink City and Paris. "We're not going to save the planet with JOG but we're encouraging people to change their behavior," says Baptiste Maurice, who aims for 25,000 users by the end of the year.

JOG's founders hope to expand their targets to people up to 35 years old and roll out the app to other cities in France.
