Highlights: The project "Tree Houses Bernbeuren / Forest is Future" will receive 30 percent of its construction costs and interior fittings. It is the last project in the Auerbergland-Pfaffenwinkel LAG region to receive funding from the 2014-2022 LEADER funding period. The aim is to create a place of peace, nature and inspiration for guests and locals. The project aims to raise awareness of climate change and show how unsealed construction with natural resources can succeed.

Bernbeuren – The project "Tree Houses Bernbeuren / Forest is Future" will receive 30 percent of its construction costs and interior fittings as well as the accompanying public relations work – a total of almost 132,000 euros. It is the last project in the Auerbergland-Pfaffenwinkel LAG region to receive funding from the 2014-2022 LEADER funding period.

In September 2021, the idea of three tree houses on Lake Haslach was first brought to the attention of the Auerbergland-Pfaffenwinkel (LAG AL-P) LAG. In addition to the tourism industry aspects, the focus is also on nature and landscape as a livelihood. The project aims to raise awareness of climate change and show how unsealed construction with natural resources can succeed. Sponsor Michael Schilling is also planning cultural and nature offerings. The aim is to create a place of peace, nature and inspiration for guests and locals.

The steering committee of the LAG AL-P endorsed the project at the beginning of 2022 and cleared the way for funding. After that, difficult questions about the development plan had to be clarified. Not least due to the support of the municipality and the district, this is now available, says Kirsten Hosse of the LAG AL-P.

Karl Schleich, mayor and 2nd chairman of the LAG AL-P e.V., was pleased that the project can be implemented. The tree houses are unique and innovative for the region. Elisabeth Gutmann, Managing Director of the LAG AL-P, emphasized that the stilt house architecture hardly seals floor space and shows an innovative approach to environmentally friendly space-saving solutions.

The conversion of the surrounding tree population into a "climate-proof" sustainable forest and a small nature trail are not part of the LEADER funding, but are being implemented at the same time.
