Kaufbeuren - A tragic traffic accident occurred on Friday morning around 10 a.m. in Kaufbeuren. An elderly car driver confused the accelerator and brake when parking and ran over a mother who was waiting with her two daughters in front of the pharmacy at Heinzelmannpark. The car crashed unbraked into the glass façade and trapped the woman.
A loud crash, splintering, and then a scream. This is how the owner of the pharmacy at Heinzelmannpark describes the moment of the accident. The rescue workers are quickly on the scene, rescue and care for a 40-year-old woman, who is caught by the vehicle and crushed. Shortly thereafter, according to the police, she was taken to Kaufbeuren Hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, her two daughters, who were also on the sidewalk, are unharmed. The person who caused the accident, an elderly lady, is in shock.
Mother and children had come with the bicycle along with the bicycle trailer and had already gotten out and off when the driver of the silver small car tried to park forward in front of the pharmacy and stepped on the wrong pedal with full force. While the injured 40-year-old was being treated by the emergency doctor, the grandmother also came to the scene of the accident and took the children home. A team from the Crisis Intervention Service took care of the family.
