Dießen/Pürgen – Congratulations! The Landsberg district has two German football champions: women's futsal and men's futsal.
The 21-time international Sydney Lohmann (22), who grew up in Pürgen, started playing football at the age of four at SV Lengenfeld and then played for VfL Kaufering, among others, secured her second title after 2021 with the women of FC Bayern Munich, whose jersey she has worn since the age of 16. After the 11-1 win in the last Bundesliga game against Potsdam, the midfielder first received the championship trophy and medal, a celebration with her teammates and the Bayern men on the balcony of Munich's town hall - and then a detailed interview in VOGUE. The two-time U17 European champion's next stop is the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand (20 July to 20 August).
Philipp Ropers (29), the player-coach of MTV Dießen, also had reason to celebrate, who as coach with Jahn Regensburg brought the German championship title to the Upper Palatinate with a 4-0 victory at HOT 05 Futsal (a club from Hohenstein-Ernstthal). Champion as a promoted team - Regensburg, runners-up in 2020, and national player Ropers have "written German football history", according to BFV Futsal boss Michael Tittmann. The Dießener: "That was the day of Jahnsinn..." With this success, Jahn has qualified for the Futsal UEFA Champions League.
In fact, there is even a third district champion. Julian Nagelsmann (35) from Issingen played a significant role in FC Bayern Munich's title win, as he was only dismissed from first place at the end of March.
