Highlights: Wolfgang Pauritsch has been a member of the regular cast of the ZDF junk show since the very beginning. Long before his time on television, the native Austrian was able to enjoy royal life – because he once loved a noblewoman. In an interview with entrepreneur Erich Lejeune, he spilled the beans and revealed that he dated a royal in his younger years. "When I was 20, I met a great woman and she was a noble woman," he recalls. Although the woman was six years older than him and had already had three children, it was still the "great love" for him.

Pulheim – For a whole decade, "Bares für Rares" has been thrilling television audiences and has already turned many customers into rich people. Wolfgang Pauritsch (51) has been a member of the regular cast of the ZDF junk show since the very beginning and bids on real treasures every week alongside Fabian Kahl (31), Walter "Waldi" Lehnertz (56) and the other dealers. Long before his time on television, however, the native Austrian was able to enjoy royal life – because he once loved a noblewoman.

"Big Love": "Bares für Rares" star Wolfgang Pauritsch used to be with a royal

Today, millions of ZDF viewers know Wolfgang Pauritsch as a veteran dealer at "Bares für Rares", but his path to television and the world of antiques had some detours in store for him. Chauffeur, night watchman, detective – by the time he was finally discovered by the head of an auction house, he had gone through numerous stages. Today, Wolfgang Pauritsch is also very familiar with the world of the blue-blooded.

In an interview with entrepreneur Erich Lejeune (78), Wolfgang Pauritsch reviewed his special career. In doing so, he spilled the beans and revealed that he dated a royal in his younger years. "When I was 20, I met a great woman and she was a noblewoman," he recalls. Although the woman was six years older than him and had already had three children, it was still the "great love" for him.

The Greatest "Cash for Rares" Treasures

Since the very first episode of "Bares für Rares" premiered on ZDF on August 3, 2013, the negotiating dealers have bought a few real treasures – at breathtaking prices. In 2019, Cosima Birk and her daughter Stephanie Huber received 42,000 euros for a piece of jewelry that contained splinters of wood from the cross of Jesus Christ. In 2021, Marlies Fischer was awarded 20,30 euros for a lithograph by the expressionist painter Otto Mueller, of which there are only 500 pieces worldwide. In the same year, Sabine Riemer was delighted to receive 29,000 euros for a gold-plated drinking vessel from the court of the Russian Empress Catherine the Great. So you can tell that visiting flea markets and rummaging around in the attic pay off.

Long before "Cash for Rares": Relationship between Wolfgang Pauritsch and Royal broke up

There was one problem with the royal love story of Wolfgang Paurtisch and his lady of the heart – whose name he unfortunately does not reveal – but: He didn't have much money at the time. "I once went shopping with her (...) and the wages were gone," he recalls, "her father then quickly taught me and told me: 'Whoever shares the bed with my wife also has to feed her'."

He then looked for work in Germany, especially Munich, and found a job where he had to mix acids. Not a harmless activity, but what do you not do for love.

Unfortunately, the relationship between Wolfgang Pauritsch and the mysterious royal was not for eternity and since 2010 he has been married to his wife Rebecca. But to have been with a noblewoman once in his life – very few of his colleagues can claim that. At "Bares für Rares" there was once a big scandal, because a sinfully expensive painting turned out to be a fake. Sources used:YouTube/münchen.tv/"Lejeune"/episode from 3.12.2022; berliner-kurier.de
