Science Minister Ofir Akunis and Economy Minister Nir Barkat decided not to participate in the pro-Israel march in New York on Sunday, against the backdrop of protests against members of the US government and at the request of the Prime Minister's Office. The Prime Minister's Office appealed this morning to the ministers who are supposed to participate in the parade and asked to dilute the attendance, citing public criticism of the number of ministers – nine – who are in the United States for the traditional annual parade for Israel in New York.
Ministers Amichai Shikli, Galit Distal Atabrian, Ofir Sofer and Amichai Eliyahu also participate in the parade, along with Knesset members who came to the United States as part of a Jewish Agency delegation, including Constitution Committee Chairman MK Simcha Rotman and other MKs from the coalition and opposition. At this time, demonstrators are demonstrating against Minister Shikli during his meeting with the chairman of the Jewish Agency.
Noa Tishbi, who until recently served as a public relations professional in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, also came to the parade. "We are in one of the strongest democracies in the world, I will be the last one to say not to exercise the right to speak," she said of the planned demonstrations. "Everyone has the right to express their opinion as long as it is non-violent and respectful."

Last weekend, a demonstration was held against Rothman in New York, during which he snatched a megaphone from a demonstrator who was following him and shouting at him. After the incident, he wrote that he was "attacked" by a "small group of violent protesters" who cursed him and wished him "death wishes."
