An end to the crisis between Angel and the ultra-Orthodox? Angel CEO Yaron Angel and Chairman of the Board Omer Bar Lev arrived today (Sunday) at shiva for Rabbi Edelstein and presented a written apology to his sons. In this, it can be assumed, Angel hopes to put behind them the turmoil and boycott imposed on the company by the ultra-Orthodox sector.
A few weeks ago, the former public security minister caused a stir online after he was filmed protesting near the home of 100-year-old Rabbi Edelstein. The ultra-Orthodox sector rose up and declared a boycott of angel produce, a boycott that continues to this day, including the disavowal of angel bakery franchisees from the company.

In a letter Bar Lev submitted to Rabbi Edelstein's sons, he wrote: "A few weeks ago there was a political demonstration near the rabbi's residence. In retrospect, I realized that various publications – erroneous – claimed that the location of the demonstration was in front of the rabbi's house and against him, and offended the honor of the Torah, and consequently caused harm to a large public. That was not my intention.
"I meant expressing a personal opinion, and certainly not offending or defiing the greatest of the generation. Had I been aware in advance of the situation we found ourselves in and the feeling of hurt, and I certainly would have avoided it – for which I express my sorrow and sincerely apologize. I see the existence of the Torah and its teachings as an important value in Jewish tradition – and this is not what I protested against."
