This Sunday, Aaliyah Mantel woke up as if in a dream. The tiara and the scarf are nevertheless there to testify that it is she who was crowned Miss Oise 2023, Saturday night, at Saint Paul Park. "I would not say that I am the most beautiful woman in the Oise," she warns from the outset. "I really did not expect this title," insists the 19-year-old Beauvaisienne who succeeded Lévana Boulou.
As is sometimes the case, Aaliyah first realized her mother's dream.... "She was the one who pushed me to register," she admits. She dreamed of having a Miss daughter and always believed in me. Personally, I was very reluctant at first. I'm rather shy and, for me, to appear on stage was a very complicated ordeal. I'm proud to have managed to overcome that. »
The world of beauty is familiar to the young woman. "I've always been passionate about him," she says. I like to take care of myself and others. I am also in the last year of BTS aesthetics alternating for this reason. Her professional experience in a beauty salon helped her with the beauty pageant. "The contact with customers allowed me to overcome my shyness a little," she admits.
However, the stress was very present Saturday night during the competition. "When I went on stage and saw the whole audience, it was impressive. I was afraid of missing the show, of making a mistake in the choreographies learned in the morning. »
"Hearing my family screaming with joy was huge for me"
But everything went well and each show, in cheerleader, evening dress, swimsuit and evening gown, was a success. "With the other 14 candidates, we really supported each other and a bond was created between us," she explains.
When the results were announced, Aaliyah had another bout of stress. "I didn't make it to the finalists," she says. I was called last and I had already resigned myself. When the number 4 was pronounced, I didn't realize that it was me who was called. Once crowned in front of Emma, the emotions came immediately. My tears flowed. Hearing my family screaming with joy was huge for me. »
"Proud" to be an ambassador of the Oise, Aaliyah will first focus on obtaining her BTS. "Then I will prepare the election of Miss Picardy," she announces with another challenge: "walking with 12-centimetre heels." "I'm not heels at all," she admits. I'm going to have to train. »
Aaliyah Mantel and her runners-up, Emma Vandewalle, Léane Mesnard, and Pauline Duchâteau, will represent the Oise at the election of Miss Picardy scheduled for October 15 at the Elispace de Beauvais.
