The fire brigade continued its operation against the forest fire on a former military training area near Jüterbog on Sunday. "Fire engines ensure that extinguishing is carried out at critical points," said the head of the Jüterbog public order office, Christiane Lindner-Klopsch, on Sunday morning. There are also camp investigations.
Jüterbog - There has been a fire on the former military training area in Brandenburg since Wednesday evening. Its operation is difficult because the area is contaminated with old ammunition. The firefighters cannot get close enough to the fire sites because of the risk of explosion.
The affected area was still given as 150 hectares. However, parts of this area are not affected, and there are not open flames everywhere, Lindner-Klopsch described.
Airplanes, helicopters or firefighting tanks are currently not requested. The situation is dynamic, and that could change, said Lindner-Klopsch. The number of firefighters deployed on Sunday so far was "under 50". dpa
