A motorcyclist died Sunday morning after colliding with a participant in the Hamburg Ironman (northern Germany), a long-distance triathlon event, a police officer told public television NDR.
After a little less than 2h30 of racing, in the south of the Hamburg conurbation, the rider of a motorcycle, with a cameraman who participated in the video coverage of the race, hit a triathlete during the bike part. The motorcyclist died at the scene, despite first aid.

The race was not stopped by the organizers. It awards the European title over the Ironman distance (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.2 km running) and qualifies for the 2023 Ironman Worlds in Nice in the fall.
