Social democracy does not want to die. The gathering in Montpellier, around Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, Carole Delga or Michaël Delafosse, the initiatives of Bernard Cazeneuve or the reflections of François Hollande prove that within what was the Socialist Party, some refuse the pincer grip between Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Emmanuel Macron.
The economic situation seems to give them reason to hope. Over the years, the head of state has burned his last left-wing vessels. The pension reform and the one in preparation on immigration show a president looking for support on his right. Symmetrically, the internal tensions at LFI, the autonomy desired by the Greens in the European elections, the emergence of François Ruffin are all signs of cracking of a Nupes constituted under the thumb of the triple candidate for the Élysée.
