The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court today (Sunday) extended for four days the detention of Chen Ziv, one of the suspects in the murder of 16-year-old Shalev Aflalo, who was run over to death about eight months ago and allegedly murdered. The judge noted at the hearing to extend the detention that there were only a few actions left that the investigating unit was requesting in order to complete the investigation.

According to the findings of the police investigation, which is still ongoing, the suspicion that Chen Ziv was driving the car at the time of the incident is strengthened, and that he conspired with the other suspects for the planned murder of Aflalo. During the hearing, Aflalo's sisters burst into the discussion and shouted at Chen Ziv and his family.

During the hearing, the police representative noted that suspect Chen Ziv was an integral part of planning the murder, and that the findings of the investigation indicate that not only did the vehicle driven by Chen Ziv not stop near the moment of impact with Aflalo, but that the vehicle even accelerated in his direction. Ziv, it should be noted, maintains his right to remain silent throughout the interrogation and does not provide a version of the incident, even after various findings have been thrown at him, including pictures from the scene of the vehicular attack.

Chen Ziv's defense attorney, Itzhak Itzkovich, told Walla!: "Today's hearing paints a picture that is unclear about what is attributed to my client. I appreciate and believe that the investigating unit, after examining the evidence in depth, will order his release."

Shelly, one of Shalev Aflalo's sisters, shared Walla! On her feelings after the hearing: "The feelings are mixed. I'm afraid they'll be released, I really hope they stay inside. I have a lot of concerns, I really want them to get their punishment. It's very hard for me to see them. I'm an understated child, and here I find myself holding back on many things."

At the same time as the court hearing, the minor suspected of pushing Aflalo in the direction of the ramming vehicle was brought to Menachem Arber Street in the Tel Kabir-Neve Ofer neighborhood, in order to reconstruct the sequence of events last September.

Last Thursday, the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court again extended the detention of two of the suspects in Shalev Aflalo's murder on New Year's Eve last September. The detention of Bar Shamai and Yitzhak Luria Ben David was extended until Monday. On the same day, at the same time as the hearing in the Magistrate's Court, the Bat Yam Juvenile Court released from custody, with the consent of the police, a 16-year-old minor, also suspected of Aflalo's murder.

The day before, the police held confrontations between the murder suspects to find out whether Bar Shamai was sitting in the vehicle at the time of the incident or coordinated the locations in the incident, and ordered Ziv Chen, the offending driver, to accelerate in order to hit his. The investigation also revealed that Luria Ben David, another suspect, disrupted the interrogation by threatening witnesses and briefing them on what to say. Police allege that when Ziv Chen got out of the vehicle after the impact, Luria told him exactly how to act and react. During the police investigation, Luria Ben David changed his version many times.

It is believed that the purpose of the police at this stage of the investigation is to prove that the two stages of the incident, pushing into the road and then running over, were planned and coordinated in advance by the group of suspects, as part of a plan to murder Aflalo. On the other hand, the suspects will continue to claim that the boy was pushed without intent to murder him, and that the impact of the vehicle was in fact an unintentional car accident, as was investigated around the time of the incident.

The vehicular incident took place last September. At first, Aflalo was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle while walking on Menachem Arber Street in Tel Aviv. During the incident, the driver of the car emerged and hit the boy, who was later pronounced dead at Ichilov Hospital.

At first, the police suspected that Aflalo had been killed in a car accident, although suspicions changed during the investigation, which revealed that the incident took place against the background of a dispute between him and a group of young people, including Chen Ziv, Yitzhak Luria Ben David and Bar Shammai.

As part of the investigation, five suspects, two minors and three adults, were arrested. Ziv is suspected of driving a vehicle at the time of the ramming, and Shamai is suspected of murder, conspiracy to commit a crime and obstruction of justice. Luria, a cousin, is suspected of planning and scheduling the various actions that led to Aflalo's murder.
