Can we draw a parallel between musical scores and the works of twentieth-century artists that Pierre Boulez collected, such as Klee, Mondrian or Kandinsky? Undoubtedly, the lyrical line has been his common thread. He has always created links between painters and composers: Paul Cézanne and Claude Debussy or Piet Mondrian and Anton Webern. In his book The Fertile Country, the famous conductor and composer gives us the key by establishing similarities between graphic structure and scores, especially with Paul Klee, who had first studied music before becoming a painter.
