Report: Brother of squad commander who abducted Hadar Goldin's body released to Gaza | Israel Hayom

Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades operative Yusuf Massoud was released to Gaza on Sunday after some 20 years in an Israeli prison.

Massoud was arrested at the Abu Holi checkpoint in the southern Gaza Strip in 2003 and convicted of firing rockets at Gush Katif and other terrorist activities.

Massoud's family is also involved in terrorism and his two brothers were operatives in Hamas' military-terrorist wing. One of them, Hussein Massoud, was killed while trying to rescue other Hamas operatives from a tunnel that collapsed in the Tafah neighborhood of Gaza City.

Walid Massoud, the other brother, was killed in Operation Protective Edge in 2014 on what was then called Black Friday, the day the body of Lieutenant Hadar Goldin was kidnapped. After the abduction, the IDF attacked many terrorist centers in the Gaza Strip, killing dozens of Palestinians.

Walid served as the head of the squad that kidnapped Goldin's body, and he was killed in the incident itself. The Palestinians report that IDF forces took Walid's body away because they thought it was Hadar Goldin's.) Walid's body is still in Israeli hands.
