In light of the growing Iranian threat and after the march in support of Israel, the Besheva Group conference will open today (Sunday) in New York, with the participation of ministers, Knesset members and heads of American Jewry. Opponents of the reform are threatening to come and try to interfere with the speeches of MK Rotman and the ministers.

The Besheva Group conference will be held today in New York for the second year, and will begin immediately after the march in support of Israel - which will march starting at 11:00 (New York time) on Fifth Avenue with the participation of tens of thousands of supporters and people of Israel.

The conference is expected to have a substantial representation of government ministers, including Barkat, Shikli, Distel, Akunis, Porush and Sofer, but Rotman receives most of the attention, and after the megaphone incident there are threats from opponents of the reform who intend to come and prevent him from speaking at the conference.

Also expected to attend the conference are Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan, former US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, the State Comptroller, the heads of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization, and senior American Jewish officials to discuss the Iranian threat to Israel, the challenges of immigration and absorption, dealing with anti-Semitism, and issues of technological innovation and high-tech.

Israel Hayom editor-in-chief Omer Lachmanovich is expected to be one of the guests at the conference to discuss the Iranian issue and U.S.-Israel relations.

Besheva Group Chairman Dudu Saada told Israel Hayom that "the connection with American Jewry is very important at this time in light of the growing Iranian threat and anti-Semitism that is trying to raise its head in various places around the world, including America, and the challenges of immigration and absorption.

"It is a great privilege for us to host senior American Jewry, ministers and senior public figures at the Besheva conference, and to deal with the burning issues."

Opponents of the legal reform accompanying the visit of government ministers and Knesset members are trying to disrupt their plans and demonstrating in front of the hotels, synagogues and other places where they stay. Opponents are circulating on many WhatsApp and Facebook groups calls to come and demonstrate in front of the conference and even call for an attempt to disrupt it and prevent ministers from speaking.

On the other hand, among the heads of the Jewish organizations there were quite a few who expressed resentment at the way the State of Israel looks in the eyes of the American public, as one of them said: "This is a day of expression of support and solidarity for Israel and an opportunity to strengthen the support of American citizens and heads of government for us and the many challenges that lie ahead. It's a shame that the legitimate struggle and the internal Israeli debate are being dragged here and here, and we hope it won't cloud the show of force."
