There are works of art that sell for a few million dollars and there are cars that sell for several hundred thousand dollars, but you don't hear about a bottle of alcoholic beverage sold for such sums every day.
Aston Martin is best known as a company that manufactures luxury cars, and it seems that it wants to join the beverage sector as well – otherwise it is impossible to explain how the British company managed to sell a single bottle of whiskey that came out under its brand for no less than $279,800 – a higher sum than the starting price of the DB12 luxury car it produces, which reaches $245,<>.
The bottle of whiskey, titled "Mokume Edition," was created in partnership with renowned Scottish distillery Bowmore and went on sale last week at Sotheby's auction house. The drink was expected to sell for between £140,220 and £225,280, but ultimately exceeded expectations – selling for £<>,<> (nearly $<>,<>).

What makes this whiskey unique is that it was aged for 52 years, first in an American oak barrel, and then in an American oak barrel. If that wasn't enough, it was eventually placed in a unique-looking bottle designed in the British company's offices inspired by a lake located near the distillery's factories.
The anonymous buyer has been invited to visit the well-known Scottish distillery, and will even have the opportunity to drive one of Aston Martin's luxury vehicles. In addition, all proceeds from the sale of the unique bottle of whiskey will be donated to a project that supports young residents living in Bowmore by providing them with various employment skills.
If the description made you want to drink this whiskey that's more than half a century old, then according to the distillery, it has a taste that combines tropical fruits and butter with touches of tobacco and peat ash (peat is a dense and partly rotten substance found in plants found in nature).
It should be noted that in 2019 it was reported that the most expensive price ever paid at auction for an alcoholic beverage was for a bottle of refined and rare whiskey from the Scottish brewery McAllen, which sold for $ 1.9 million.
