Special Envoy to Montpellier
It was June 1st and the first day of the Printemps des comédiens which celebrated in Montpellier, under the pine forest of the Domaine d'O, its 37th edition. Ivo van Hove unveiled his new staging. This time the Belgian set sail for Sweden, seizing two scenarios by Ingmar Bergman: After the rehearsal and Persona.
For the first, a semblance of a work desk is arranged on the tray. It is that of Henrik Vogler, a theater director on the rim. He seems to live in this workplace, sleep there or rather fight his insomnia.

In the role, with his unkempt beard and dark circles, Charles Berling reveals the misfortunes of this aging character. His monotone voice and always cold can annoy but we get used to it. She goes well to this drag-misery of Henrik and we understand that while he works on Strindberg's Dream, he is not at the wedding with his actresses.
